Many of the properties associated with applications (e.g., catalysis, ion conduction, etc.) manifest only when the material is under working conditions as a result of applied stimuli associated with\u00a0<em>heat, light, stress, electric field, gas, liquid<\/em>, etc. These stimuli trigger structural and chemical dynamics which must be understood to develop new materials.
