sought out experts in sustainable engineering, earth systems engineering and management, industrial ecology, emerging technology &#8211; especially military and security technologies, weaponized narrative and identity, air quality, air pollution, energy conservation and energy efficiency technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our researchers are also known for their work on infrastructure resilience and sustainability, climate change and extreme events, interdependent infrastructure systems, transportation life cycle assessment, infrastructure complexity and adaptation, anticipatory environmental life cycle assessment, team science, sustainable systems and technologies as well as energy analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other research specialties include water conservation, water resources engineering, human and natural systems, numerical modeling, closing the carbon cycle by capturing carbon dioxide from the air, carbon sequestration, carbon foot-printing, innovative energy and infrastructure systems and their scaling properties.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"uds-profile-grid col-one\" water infrastructure systems performance by analyzing feedback in human-hydrological systems, assessing design choices and informing decision making.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"uds-person-profile is-style-large\" style=\"\"><div class=\"profile-img-container\"><div class=\"profile-img-placeholder\"><img and the Built Environment<\/span><\/h4><\/div><div><p class=\"person-description\">Lackner developed mineral sequestration, zero emission power plants and direct air capture to balance the carbon budget.
