VITAE:
Prof. Eileen Seo is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering in the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy and the Biodesign Center for Sustainable Macromolecular Materials and Manufacturing at Arizona State University. Eileen was born and raised in Korea until she was 14. She moved to Ellicott City, Maryland to study abroad, where she attended high school. She received her B.S. in Chemical Biology from UC Berkeley, in 2011 winter with Prof. Jamie Cate. She obtained her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University in 2018 with Prof. Chad Mirkin. She returned to sunny California as a Postdoctoral Fellow with Prof. Craig Hawker at UC Santa Barbara in the Materials Department before starting her independent career in 2021. Research in the Seo lab lies at the interface of nanotechnology, photochemical polymerization, and sustainability. Her group’s work has been supported by the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award, DOE Early Career Award, ACS PRF DNI Grant, NSF, Arizona Water Innovation Initiative, and National Research Foundation of Korea.
