Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at Arizona State University. Prior to joining ASU, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University. Prof. Fu\u2019s research focuses on third-generation wide\/ultrawide bandgap semiconductor (i.e., GaN and nitride alloys, Ga<sub>2<\/sub>O<sub>3<\/sub> and oxide alloys, and AlN) materials and devices for applications in electronics (e.g., power electronics and ICs, RF\/microwave devices and MMICs, sensors) and photonics (e.g., optoelectronics, waveguides, nonlinear optics, quantum photonics). He won the 2025 TSMC JDP Award, 2024 NSF CAREER Award, 2022 Electronics Young Investigator Award, 2021 ISU Regents Innovation Fund Award, the 2019 Palais Outstanding Doctoral Award (the highest honor for ASU ECEE PhD graduates) and the 2018 ASU Outstanding Research Award. His work has been chronicled in over 260 journal and conference publications, 4 book chapters, and 5 granted patents and 10 pending patents. His research has been featured by many media outlets including IEEE Spectrum, Semiconductor Today, Compound Semiconductor, Silicon Valley Microelectronics.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h2>Graduate Students<\/h2>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"img-responsive wp-image-366 alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/faculty.engineering.asu.edu\/houqiangfu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/89\/2021\/01\/Picture1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"186\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3>Dawei Wang<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Dawei Wang<\/strong> received his M.S. degree in Semiconductor Material and Science from Peking University and B.S. degree from School of Electronics and Mechanics, Xidian University. His previous work focused on TiO2 transparent conductive oxide (TCO) and TiO2-based photodetectors.\u00a0 He joined our research group in Spring 2021 and is currently pursuing a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering at ASU. Now he is pursuing a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University. He joined our group in Fall 2025 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Arizona State University. This is the highest honor for the ECEE PhD students and awarded to only one student each year.
