{"id":1710,"date":"2020-02-13T19:44:19","date_gmt":"2020-02-13T19:44:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/labs.engineering.asu.edu\/lpwang\/?post_type=person&#038;p=1710"},"modified":"2022-12-07T05:36:17","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T05:36:17","slug":"dr-liping-wang","status":"publish","type":"person","link":"https:\/\/faculty.engineering.asu.edu\/lpwang\/person\/dr-liping-wang\/","title":{"rendered":"Liping Wang, Ph.D."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Liping Wang received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with a focus on nanoscale radiative heat transfer in December 2011 at Georgia Institute of Technology under the guidance of Professor Zhuomin Zhang. He started his academic career as an assistant professor at Arizona State University in July 2012 after a short stay in Prof. Zhang\u2019s group as a postdoctoral fellow. Dr. Wang\u2019s research primarily aims to selectively control thermal radiation for energy and sensing applications by fundamentally understanding and exploring novel physical mechanisms in nanoscale radiative transport with nanoengineered materials or so-called metamaterials. Besides, he has been investigating near-field thermal radiation for energy harvesting and thermal modulation applications. Dr. Wang is currently the director of <em>Arizona State University \u03bc\u03b5\u03c4\u03ac Thermal Radiation (ASU meta-TRad) Group<\/em>\u00a0(previously <em>Nano-Engineered Thermal Radiation <\/em>Group) and the lead principal investigator for ASU\u2019s participation in the\u00a0<em>US-Australia Solar Energy Collaboration on Micro Urban Solar Integrated Concentrator\u00a0<\/em>project, sponsored by\u00a0<em>Australian Renewable Energy Agency<\/em>. His research findings have been published in more than 40 peer-reviewed high-impact journal papers in applied physics, optics, and heat transfer. He is the recipient of the\u00a0<em>2015 CAREER Award from the National Science of Foundation<\/em>,\u00a0<em>2011<\/em>\u00a0<em>ASME NanoEngineering Council Award<\/em>\u00a0<em>for Top NanoEngineering in Energy &amp; Sustainability Poster, and\u00a02010 Hartnett-Irvine Best Paper Award<\/em>\u00a0from the International Centre of Heat and Mass Transfer<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>Dr. Wang has won the\u00a0<em>2013 Top 5% Engineering Faculty Teaching Award<\/em>\u00a0at ASU for his teaching excellence.
