Welcome to the website of Professor Mehdi Nikkhah’s research group at the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering (SBHSE), Arizona State University. The current research interests in our lab lie at the interface of micro/nanotechnology, advanced biomaterials and biology. Specifically our research is centered on integration of advanced biomaterials, stem cells and micro- and nanoscale technologies to develop functional vascularized tissue substitutes. In addition, our lab is actively involved in the development of highly innovative microscale platform for cell-biomaterial interactions and cancer metastasis studies. Our lab provides an active learning and highly collaborative and interactive environment for students to gain hands-on experiences in design and development of microscale platforms, tissue engineering, polymer synthesis and cancer research. An overriding objective in our lab is to establish a unique and interdisciplinary research and educational program that will address some of the key challenges in global health and biomedical engineering.
