2021
- Fakhri Saadedeen‘s paper “GPS Spoofing Attacks on PMUs Practical Feasibility and Counter Measures” was chosen as the third-best paper at the 53rd Power Symposium held in November 2021 by Texas A&M’s Electrical and Computer Engineering department. Outstanding student research presentations were awarded to student authors who presented phenomenal research contributions at the conference and we are excited that Freddie was selected for such an esteemed honor.
- Jairo Ramirez Torres is one of 72 undergraduate students chosen internationally as an IEEE PES-Scholar for the academic 2021-2022 school year. A merit-based scholarship, his high academic achievement, distinctive extracurricular activities, and interest in the Power and Energy field led Jairo to be chosen as one of seven students from Arizona State University this year.
- Behrouz Azimian has been awarded the Al Gross Award from the IEEE Phoenix Section for the 2021 year. This student scholarship is provided by the IEEE Phoenix Section for full-time graduate and undergraduate IEEE student members and it is based on both academic achievements and contributions made to IEEE. This conferment is a special honor among the IEEE Phoenix Section and the lab extends our congratulations to Behrouz.
- Shiva Moshtagh has been awarded the Fulton Fellowship from the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering. Her extraordinary achievements both academically and professionally led the institution to support her future research endeavors for the 2021-2022 school year.
- Dhaval Dalal and Behrouz Azimian were awarded the Engineering Graduate Fellowship for the Spring 2021 semester by Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering. Both gentlemen were nominated by the ECEE program and FSE to receive this award and it was offered in recognition of their extraordinary academic achievements.
- Demetra Salls was chosen to receive an Interdisciplinary Enrichment Fellowship from Arizona State University to support her study towards a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in the 2021-2022 academic year. The fellowship is a merit-based award to support under-represented students who demonstrate academic excellence and have a mindset focused on social impact and creative collaboration.
2020
- Tasha Reynolds was the Fall 2020 Demo Day Winner in her Entrepreneur & Value Creation (FSE301) class competition with approximately 150 students. She created and live-pitched a five-minute deck for her team’s Senior Capstone project that was voted by peers and judges to be the number one innovation pitch in the class. Winning the most votes resulted in a $1000 scholarship being awarded to the team. EVES Charger is an Electric Vehicle Emergency Solar Charger that five senior electrical engineering students at Arizona State University are developing under the mentorship of Dr. Anamitra Pal.
- Demetra Salls is one of 118 undergraduate students chosen internationally as an IEEE PES-Scholar for the academic 2020-2021 school year for her high academic achievement, distinctive extracurricular activities, and interest in the Power and Energy Field. She is one of 15 students from Arizona State University to receive this distinction.
- IEEE Phoenix Section Awards Committee selected Pooja Gupta to receive the Al Gross award for the year 2020.
2019
- John Patterson was awarded the Gerald T. Heydt scholarship in 2019 for his outstanding work in the field of power engineering during his undergraduate and graduate studies.
- IEEE Phoenix Section awarded Dr. Anamitra Pal in recognition “For Outstanding Education and Research Contributions to Critical Infrastructures and Network Security for Electric Power Systems”.
2018
- Dr. Anamitra Pal has been awarded the Young CRITIS Award (YCA) 2018 for his valuable contributions to the field of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP). The award is designed to open a dialogue between C(I)I stakeholders and junior researchers in the critical infrastructure field.
2017
- Ngoni Mugwisi, an undergraduate at ASU from Zimbabwe, who did his senior design project with Dr. Anamitra Pal, has been awarded the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. This scholarship will enable him to pursue his Master’s degree at Oxford University (UK) from Fall 2017. Ngoni is ASU’s first Rhodes Scholar since 2001.
- Reetam Sen Biswas’s conference paper entitled, “A robust techno-economic analysis of PMU based islanding detection schemes”, won the Third-Best Paper award in the 2017 IEEE Texas Power and Energy Conference
