Chay Dahill

NEWT RET, 2017. Current position: Desert Vista High School, Phoenix

Chay Dahill spent the summer of 2017 working in Prof. Francois Perreault’s lab through the NEWT Research Experience for Teachers program.  As of 2017, Chay has been teaching high school science in Phoenix, Arizona for five years.  He teaches Physics and Earth Science to juniors and seniors. While in Prof. Perreault’s lab, Chay ran a membrane distillation of model brackish water experiment.  As the brackish water would reach certain concentration levels, Chay would remove the membrane to analyze the precipitating species on it.  Chay also used the computer programs Visual MINTEQ and MINTEQA2 to model the change of the water chemistry and create a list of of possible precipitates to expect on the membrane.
