Marcela Strane

FURI student, 2021. Current position: PhD student at Univ. Houston

Marcela is a senior in Environmental Engineering. She is a Peer Mentor for the Fulton Schools of Engineering and an ASU Student Fundraiser at the ASU Foundation. In her spare time, she enjoys to dance, hike, and ice skate.


Project Description: The study of stainless steel and its reaction with silver ions for its application to potable water systems on spacecrafts. We aim to stop the depletion of silver. Some of her attributed roles include treating the steel with different surface chemistry such as silver nanoparticles, silver, and sulfidized silver as well as analyzing the coating depletion by placing them in a silver fluoride solution in aims to find the best coating.
