A current focus is on high-frequency power conversion, and on system- and component-level techniques for reducing the cost, volume, weight, and loss of power magnetic components, which today present a dominant bottleneck toward improved power conversion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has developed high performance power electronics in a wide range of applications, including 45W mobile phone chargers, 1kW data center supplies, 30kW battery energy storage systems, and MW-level high-voltage dc systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Ranjram is a recipient of the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics Prize Paper Award, the 2025 IEEE Region 6 Outstanding Educator Award, and is a multiple-time winner of the ASU Top 5% Teaching Award. Nick&#8217;s current research focus is the measurement and characterization of core loss of low permeability magnetic materials, thermal considerations in these systems, and in modular power conversion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nick&#8217;s background is in software engineering for power electronics including motor controllers and power converters. He joined MAPEL in Fall 2023 with interests in power electronics and electrical machinery. His current research is focused on modeling nonlinear capacitance for high-frequency AC-DC converters, miniaturization of capacitor banks, and high-efficiency DC-DC converters. His research interests are analog and RF integrated circuits, power electronics, and wireless communications.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Diego will work for Texas Instruments this summer as a Test and Validation Engineering Intern on the High-Speed Amplifiers team in&nbsp;Tucson.
