Westerhoff reported that within seconds the device eradicated a range of viruses and bacteria on glass, ceramic and metal surfaces. Abbaszadegan says the tests showed a major improvement in hygienic conditions due to the device inactivating a large number of viral particles and bacterial cells. Galileo Group envisions the results leading to a low-cost solution that effectively decontaminates work spaces and frequently touched surfaces and equipment.

GALILEO GROUP MAY 14, 2021ASU RESEARCHERS TEST INVENTORS’ CORONAVIRUS-KILLING SMARTPHONE TECHNOLOGY as part of a NEWT collaboration.
