Prof. Xin Xu
Dr. Xin Xu is an assistant professor in The Polytechnic School at Arizona State University. He is also a member of the graduate faculty in System Engineering at the School of Manufacturing Systems and Networks, and Materials Science and Engineering at the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport, and Energy.
He completed his B.S. in Physics from Nanjing University in 2014, and his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Northwestern University with Prof. Sossina Haile in 2019. From 2015 to 2019, he received transmission electron microscopy training at Argonne National Laboratory with Dr. Charudatta Phatak and Dr. Amanda Petford-Long. His doctoral work focused on developing local multimodal methods to understand the charge transport mechanism at grain boundaries in electroceramics. In 2019, he joined the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University as a postdoctoral scholar with Prof. William Chueh to study failure mechanisms in solid-state batteries through operando dynamic approaches. His research interests focus on developing a fundamental understanding of charge transport and the related electro-chemo-mechanics in mixed electronic and ionic materials to address energy and environmental challenges.
Graduate Students
