Information theory
Information theory quantifies data and studies its storage and transmission, all from a mathematical perspective. In a world increasingly driven by growing quantities of data, information theory researchers are investigating how best to use that data to improve civilization.
Electrical engineering faculty members in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering are investigating a variety of applications of information theory to improve the field of data, including how best to protect privacy in datasets used to train artificial intelligence, changing data transmission methods in time-sensitive systems to make it faster and more.
