Ronald A. Nelson , Jr. , Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Fellow

Ronald A. Nelson, Jr. earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Wake Forest University where he designed, synthesized, and evaluated phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase inhibitor prodrugs as a treatment method for androgen-independent prostate cancer. After his graduate work, Ronald worked at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine to complete translational animal studies as well as lead as project manager for the RegenMed Development Organization (ReMDO). At ReMDO, he managed unique industry collaborations with the universal bioink, media, and bioreactor programs whose aims were to accelerate the deployment of therapeutics through advanced clinical manufacturing. Ronald now works as a postdoctoral research fellow at Arizona State University where he utilizes his background in analytical chemistry, cancer/cell biology, organic synthesis, translational animal studies, and engineering to help integrate innovative biomaterials and microscale technologies to create biomimetic model tissue constructs for regenerative medicine and disease modeling applications.
