H. Enis Karahan

Fulbright Fellow

Dr. H. E. Karahan is a Fulbright Fellow at the Nanotechnology-Enabled Water Treatment Center (NEWT), located in the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment, Arizona State University. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Chemical Engineering (principal major) and Molecular Biology and Genetics earned from Istanbul Technical University (ITU). He completed his master’s and doctoral studies in the Materials Science and Engineering program of Koç University and the Bioengineering program of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), respectively. He gained his first postdoctoral experience at the Singapore Membrane Technology Center (SMTC) at NTU with a research visit to The University of Sydney. He later continued his postdoctoral research at the Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS), Kyoto University. Before joining NEWT, he served as a visiting scientist at the Synthetic Fuels and Chemicals Technology Center (SENTEK) in ITU with the support of The Scientific and Technological Research Institution of Turkey (TUBITAK). His research interests include molecular self-assembly, functional surface coatings, two-dimensional materials, nanostructured antimicrobials, and sustainable biomaterials.
