Dr. Mounir El Asmar received the Fulton Exemplar Faculty distinction. This distinction recognizes outstanding associate or full professors who have a strong combination of exemplary research outcomes, excellent teaching, student mentorship and service contributions. Fulton Exemplar Faculty are distinguished by having high research productivity as well as educational effectiveness.
Moreover, Dr. El Asmar and Dr. G. Edward Gibson, Jr. were joined by former Ph.D. student David Ramsey and current Ph.D. student Abdulrahman Yussef to receive the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Construction Research Congress 2018 Best Paper Award. Dr. El Asmar accepted the award from Dr. Charles Berryman, department chair at Louisiana State University, at the Congress in New Orleans, LA.
The paper is entitled “Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for Large Industrial Projects: FEED Maturity and Its Impact on Project Cost and Schedule Performance.” The authors’ new method has shown a 24 percent difference in cost performance for projects with mature and accurate FEED. The paper was named Best Paper out of 374 accepted articles.
