Ethan Lawrence
About Ethan
Ethan joined the group in fall 2014 as a Ph.D. student after earning a B.S. in Physics and Math from Coe College. His undergraduate research included glass studies at Coe College, University of Manitoba, and Corning Incorporated, plus an internship at Rockwell Collins developing micro-radio filters.
His doctoral work focuses on in situ TEM analysis of oxygen exchange reactions in ceria-based catalysts. Research includes:
– Carbon deposition studies on Ni/CeO2 and Ni/SiO2
– Atomic-scale surface imaging of CeO2
– High-speed (0.0025s) TEM imaging of lattice dynamics
Co-founded the MSA Student Council, serving as Treasurer and Program Chair for their Pre-meeting Congress. Developed expertise in conference organization and professional networking.
