Community Engaged Engineering Education Research

My interests in community engagement stemmed from a need to ensure that research is addressing real-world challenges in partnership with communities. My perspective as a systems engineering means that working with stakeholders to develop sustainable infrastructure for partnerships is a crucial part of my future vision for the success of my research. I seek to understand more about the organizational factors that enable and sustain partnerships (e.g. research-practice partnerships, school-industry partnerships, interorganizational partnerships broadly) in engineering education contexts, the role of community engagement in engineering, and leveraging participatory methods to engage community in research.
