Building a successful research lab takes more than equipment it takes a culture of safety, compliance and shared responsibility. ASU Engineering provides resources and support to help you meet institutional standards, train your team and maintain an efficient, compliant lab. Access essential safety, compliance and operational resources to keep your lab running smoothly and securely.
Safety and access essentials
ISAAC and key access
Request electronic or physical access to your lab space through the ISAAC system and the ASU Keys office. Access requests must be approved by your department and safety liaison.
Lab safety training and resources
All personnel must complete required safety training before beginning lab work. Access online modules, in-person sessions, and lab-specific safety documentation through ASU’s Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program.
Infrastructure and lab safety
Find support for lab setup, inspections, and safety compliance. The Engineering Safety Office can assist you in preparing your space to meet ASU and federal research standards.

Compliance and research integrity
Ensure your research meets the highest ethical and safety standards. ASU’s Research Compliance office provides the training, forms and review processes you need to stay compliant.
Available support includes:
- Responsible conduct of research: Training and guidance for maintaining ethical practices in research management and publication.
- Human subjects research (IRB): Learn how to obtain approval and complete required human subject training.
- Animal care and use (IACUC): Learn ethical standards and complete mandatory animal research training.

Advance your professional and research management skills through Workday Learning, ASU’s training portal for faculty and staff.
Registering your lab
Ensure your lab is officially registered with your department and the Engineering Safety Office. Registration enables access to safety audits, compliance tools and lab support resources.
